About BNS Corporation
From Small Beginnings to Helping People and Building a Better Future
Khulna is a disaster-prone and saline coastal region in the southwest, adjacent to the Sundarbans (the largest mangrove forest in the world). Due to the ruthless impacts of climate change, many people here are rendered homeless and destitute. Rural women, in particular, had been struggling with a precarious existence in deep poverty. Even today, this scene has not changed, so this type of scene is quite common in this area.
In this context, a young man born into a middle-class family in Khulna did not run after a safe corporate or government job rather, he dreamt of doing something for the neglected society and its people. Fueled by this drive, he selected a highly relevant subject like Political Science at university.
Defying the desires of his family and relatives, he started a sweet shop in Khulna in 2009 after completing his education. Despite enduring severe losses, neglect, and harsh criticism during the first three years (2009–2012), He later achieved phenomenal success in the business with an innovative idea selling curd at a low price per piece.
Following the success of his confectionery business, his focus turned to the marginalized women of Khulna, who had lost everything to the devastation of Cyclone Sidr and the onslaught of saline water. Understanding the wounds of this society, this student, with an educational background in Political Science, established an eco-friendly handicraft factory using local hogla leaves (cattails) as raw material.
Ensuring modern training for disadvantaged and marginalized women, he has managed to upgrade their crafted products to global standards. The hands that once awaited charity have now become tools for changing fortunes through the weaving of hogla leaves.
Hundreds of lives are illuminated by the radiance of his honesty and unyielding spirit. Many unemployed youths, inspired by him, have started their own businesses and become self-reliant. In this way, it has been possible to restore solvency and dignity to the families of dozens of marginalized women.
Now, this fighting young man stands as a unique example of how the fate of an entire society can be changed with empty hands and absolute honesty.
